FGCC rides in August 2018

Saturday 4th August 08.00am ride
TK, PT, KBS, MA, RT
the Flying brit with us as temperatures were too hot to be selling boxes of melted chocolate, but very nice morning for a ride.
Route to Arundel via Muntham, SDW to the tank turn-off where MA parted company to return. Peloton continued on the SDW via Kithurst Hill and then left taking the DanBrit’s “vroom” ride towards the gallops west of Lee Farm. A nice fast drop it was though with most of us being lashed by the undergrowth which fortunately did not include brambles. A fast drop also down the Gallops, inspection of the Budd memorial and then to Arundel for a brek. Although we had arrived much earlier than usual due to the fast riding conditions our gain was lost due to a long wait for the brek.
Return via Angmering Park Estate but the Flying Brit’s southerly route. Towards the end KBS’s rear derailleur snapped off, so the bike had to be converted to fixed speed to enable him to continue. Return route out of APE on the Monarch’s Way, bidding farewell to the KBS at Tolmare, sparing him from having to ride single speed up the last hill (cop out?).
Total 21.7 miles 1,758 ft

Arundel ride via gallops and return via APE

Saturday 11th August Nepcroft Trek & Brek
RT, PT x 2, ZA, TK, MA, RK.
A great turn out for a brek. 4 peaks ride. Cissbury car park then Chanctonbury with RT, one of the PT’s and RK parting company from the peloton to return to Findon. Peloton continued down to Washington across the A24 and up to High Barn, back to Muntham and return to Findon and Nepcroft brek.

Saturday 18th August 08.00am ride
JR, KBS, TK, PT
JR reports:
“We cycled to Cissbury car park, to the SDW, down the Lions trail where differences of opinion reared their ugly head, Kim and Tim finding a more efficient route to Steyning than the TM and myself. Three things came off of Paul’s bike on the downhill, the third being himself. JR also rested during the descent.

Reunited in Steyning we rode the Downslink to Truffles in Shoreham and a post brek ride home went via Lancing clump.”

Total 18 miles. Altitude TBA.

Saturday 25th August 08.00am ride.
RT, JR, RK
Amberley loop ride. No incidents and minimal b******s also to the great concern of Mr Roche. However made up for it during a brek at Julia’s (though Budd advisor rating there slipping as the sausages were not from the butchers). Mr Kersley joined for a coffee.

Total 17.4 miles 1573 ft climbed.
