Only FL out – he went over to Steyning and back

Sat 11 7.30am Trek’n’Brek Chez Francis
MA ZA RT CB KB-S PT and FL set off up Stable Lane and through Gallops Farm to the Pest House, then climbed up through Buddington Bottom to the SDW near Chanctonbury. In and out of a layer of fog, with temperature variations noticable as we climbed up and down. Then along SDW to Langmead, and south to Lychpole Farm and back up to Cissbury car park. On to FL’s where fresh-baked bread and a gallic feast awaited. Mrs FL and the family had fled. EN joined for brek. Bright sunshine.

Sat 18 7.30am Saturday ride
RT, FL, KB-S, JR, MA and PT. Bright sunshine. Climbed to Cissbury and turned north for Chanctonbury. Saw herd of deer in distance as we headed east on SDW to descend through Pepperscombe to Steyning. KB-S and FL leave peleton separately at Steyning, while others brek at Truffles (leaf tea and cafetieres restored, but chaos otherwise!). Mouse Lane to Wiston, then skirt north of Chanctonbury ring to car park and cross A24 to return through Windlesham, taking field edge to Long Furlong. 12.8 miles

Saturday 25th October.
After all the discussion about joining Zach for a ride to Shoreham to ride across the refurbished toll bridge and a brek, he unfortunately had only myself for cycling company. Being as I had to get back he didn’t even get his brek either – sorry about that Zach. We took the route towards Shoreham, Cissbury and straight across to Lancing college, left up the road towards Steyning to the Coombes and off road back up the hill to meet the outward route and back to Cissbury. Not sure of the distance, but I think it would have been around 10 miles.
