2008.06 IOW/New Forest ride
Varyingly, participants were PT, ZA, JR, CB, RT & MA, along with the new satmap, which was given it’s first outing.
PM for this year’s IOW/NF ride was PT, with intended attendance varying almost daily right up to the last minute, when MA was given a pass to attend for the Friday.
Thursday 3 July
PT tookvan to Ashurst in NF, parked up and catches 12:40 train(s) to Portsmouth Harbour, arriving at 13:54.
RT and JR cycled down from Findon in convoy to meet PT place bikes in LSV2 and board 12:55 train at Worthing for Portsmouth Harbour, arriving 14:02. Meanwhile ZA boarded train at Angmering at 13:05, joining RT and JR – such co-ordination!
In view of the time available till the next ferry, this was an opportunistic moment to re-enact “Brief encounters of the lost keys”.

CB makes his way to the island by whatever means he feels suitable, bearing in mind that PT’s van awaits at Ashurst for the return on Sunday. CB meets PT, RT, JR and ZA en route from Shanklin to Freshwater, probably near the customary lunch stop at Carisbrooke. All proceed to Freshwater to stay overnight on Friday at:

Saturday 5 July
All proceed to Yarmouth and board ferry to Lymington. There is a train from Lymington Pier at 44 mins past the hour for Worthing, journey time 2 hours 10 mins.
RT and ZA took the train to Brockenhurst and then ZA to Rustington and RT to London.
CB and PT ride up through NF and stay overnight at:

Sunday 6 July
PT and CB ride through Forest to Ashurst, collect van and return to Sussex.
