FGCC rides in July 2026
Saturday 4th July 08.00am ride.
TK PT TB MA JR ZA RT
Airport visit via Lancing trig point and Lancing clump and return via the coast. Glorious sunshine so brek on the runway side. Excellent 360 degree view from the trig point.
Total 18 miles and 940 ft.
Meanwhile in Italy, CB rode 25 miles and climbed 2,170 ft, making up for the lack of climbs on the Shrewsbury ride.
By contrast in flat Denmark the FD rode a mere 11 miles with a 194 ft climb.
Saturday 11th July 08.00am ride
ZA, MA , TB, TK + NG. AM later on a different route.
26.5 miles and 2,335ft
(34 miles and 2,800 ft for MA)
Kim in Denmark. 17.8 miles and 700ft
Saturday 18th July 08.00am ride
FGCC ride to Dial Post, Partridge Green,Shoreham with AM DC JR MA RT and ZA
Total 35 miles and 1,200ft for the peloton
RT.DC and ZA peeled off in Steyning to return to Findon via Mouse Lane and up past the jumps to the SDW and home, while the peloton continued down the Downslink to Shoreham and then along the sea front to Grand Avenue and north home.
RT, DC, ZA total 25 miles and 1,650ft
..and in Italy CB went on a mountain road ride with friends – total 34 miles and 4,300ft.
Saturday 25th July 08.00am Clavicle ride JR/P
PT JR TK TB AM NG ZA meeting JC at the airport
Delayed start due to AM’s sticking brake. Analysis by PT and NG revealed that the problem was due to worn out pads and sticking pistons.
Up Stable Lane to SDW and Langmead. Concrete road for PT2 memorial maintenance which was hidden by heavy undergrowth, primarily nettles. TK found a large branch and hacking through finally revealed the memorial. RT carried out the necessary maintenance and this was followed by the Ode. A small debacle on the decision to ride to Shoreham along the Poynings road to avoid the runners on the Downs Link with the front 4 riders going all the way on road and the back 4 going on to the Downs Link to where the runners were.
An excellent brek hosted by PT and JR and then TB & ZA headed home via the sea front whilst the main peloton went to the bike sop in Shoreham for new pads for AM and other bike needs. Return via sea front , Grand Avenue and the gallops.
Total 24 miles and 1,100ft.
Meanwhile in Vordingbord Daneland the FD was out with a 28 mile ride and 450ft climb.
