2026 APM and Bling awards

APM 2026 and bling awards

  1. Bling awards

On January 9th Gentlemen of the Findon Gentlemen’s cycling club gathered early in the lounge of the ancestral home of our team chaplain (the Findon Manor hotel which in years past was the vicarage) to quaff a pre-prandial glass or two of Sussex bitter and to start the evening’s events.

When we had become fully quorate our Team Cartographer presented the cycling stats for 2025. The first of the bling awards presented was for the total distance covered with a total of  1,102 miles on official Saturday rides. Unsurprisingly to all the winner was again Mr Avery, who similarly won the total heights award having climbed a total of  2.37 Everests.

However Mr Avery had to hand over the Bulldog Bling award, the award for attending the most number of official FGCC rides, to Zach Allen who had attended a massive total of  50 official rides. Official rides are those on every Saturday plus overnight rides.

2. APM

Gentlemen then transferred to the Tajdar to dine and discuss and finalise the calendar for 2026.

The first subject was the date of the Not Gala Night with a choice of two dates but trying to ensure maximum possible attendance finally settling on 6th March. Mr Roche will research the Gurkha Kitchen as a possible venue.

The 2026 Long ride had already been planned for June and an EPM to discuss logistics will be held on Feb 6th.

A change to the Downslink ride was requested as it has become much gentrified and a boring after 30 years of cycling it as a group. Instead Mr Roche, with the assistance of our Team Cartographer Mr Topley, will research a route in a more easterly direction.

Other dates settled were the Go West ride and various trek ‘n breks.

The calendar has been updated and is to be found in its usual location on the FGCC website.
